You can never start too early planning on your future.
TCU offers supplemental retirement accounts (SRA) from 8 different vendors. At any time during your employment you may open an account and shelter pre tax money. Each year the IRS has a maximum amount which can be sheltered. Human Resources has the necessary forms to open an account with Pension Fund of the Christian Church or TIAA-CREF. You must contact all other vendors directly to establish an account. You must also complete an internal Salary Reduction Agreement form available in HR to initiate payroll pre tax contributions.
