My marital status and name have changed. What I do?
When you receive your new Social Security card you will want to bring it to HR and we will update your preferred name and your marital status. You might also want to talk to benefits about your dependent beneficiary information at this time.
I need to hire a student. What do I need to do?
If the student has never had a job on campus before they will need to go to Career Services first and fill out a PDF, I-9 and W-4. The student will return to you a PDF. Complete a PAF hiring the student into your department. You will then forward the PDF along with a PAF to HR.
I did not get my leave form turned in and have lost vacation time. Can I get back the time I have lost?
Yes. You can have your supervisor e-mail a request to HR to set up an adjustment for the hours lost. There are only two reasons for adjustments. If hours taken were reported incorrectly or if vacation is taken during a payperiod in which leave will accrue before time taken can be deducted from the balance.
How do I order labels?
You can send an e-mail to m.porter@tcu.edu requesting labels for any faculty/staff group on campus. The file can be sent to you directly or to Judy Cartmill in mailing services.
How long do I need to keep a PAF/timesheets/etc?
The PAF needs to be kept 2 years after termination. The timesheet should be retained for 3 years. Leave authorization forms for 3 years. Ministers housing allowance forms should be kept 2 years after termination. Performance appraisal forms for 2 years after termination.
My student worker is not returning in the fall. What do I do?
Fill out a PAF terminating the student the day after the last day they will be working. Forward the PAF to HR. To identify all active student employees for your department, run the Active Student Job Report located on the Budget Manager’s Human Resources Report Home page. The report provides key data elements for student employees such as pay rate and employee classification.
